Mural ‘Todays Aromatics’
A mural on the La Junquera farm translating today’s landscape…
Together with Britt Veltman I’ve created a mural on the La Junquera farm in the South of Spain. In the near future, a distillery will open at La Junquera where the oils will be extracted from the aromatics they grow. We’ve made this mural to welcome people who visit La Junquera and show what aromatics are grown here and what aromatics are worked with.
Sage . Spanish lavender . Thyme . Rosemary .
Murals have been around almost as long as mankind, but over time the techniques and functions have changed enormously. We took inspiration from the function that murals had in the early days of mankind. Several wall drawings have been found in ancient caves depicting various organisms including animals but also plants that occurred in that place at that time. We translate the aromatic fields growing in this landscape today. Perhaps aromatics will no longer grow here in the future, but it will still be possible to find out through this painting what once was there.
