Folding blue
For this project I designed a folding chair from residual material. Starting with the well-known Zig-Zag chair Rietveld made. I used this chair as inspiration and redesigned it by turning it into a folding chair.
I find the design of the zigzag chair interesting because of its simplicity and complexity at the same time.
To make the chair foldable, certain points must have a connection that makes this possible. I wanted to give myself the challenge of not using hinges. After some experimenting with materials and prototypes, I used denim fabric as connection points. Which turned out to be strong enough to hold a person.
