Driven by a desire to make better use of this valuable natural material, I wanted to create something that is literally alive and, at the same time, contributes to more greenery in the city. By hanging fishing nets filled with wool and seeds between the streets, a system is created in which plants can grow using only sunlight and rainwater. Sheep’s wool retains moisture and nutrients for a long time, which is particularly beneficial for plants in drier urban environments. The natural nutrients in the wool stimulate growth and support the plants’ health. In addition, the fibre structure of the wool provides support for the roots. As the roots work their way through the dense wool, a strong and interwoven root network is created.

Vanuit de wens om dit waardevolle natuurlijke materiaal beter te benutten, wilde ik iets creëren dat letterlijk leeft én tegelijkertijd bijdraagt aan meer groen in de stad. Door visnetten gevuld met wol en zaden tussen de straten te hangen, ontstaat een systeem waarin planten met enkel zonlicht en regenwater kunnen groeien. Schapenwol houdt vocht en voedingsstoffen langdurig vast, wat bijzonder gunstig is voor planten in drogere stedelijke omgevingen. De natuurlijke voedingsstoffen in de wol stimuleren de groei en ondersteunen de gezondheid van de planten. Daarnaast biedt de vezelstructuur van de wol stevigheid aan de wortels. Terwijl de wortels zich door de dichte wol heen werken, ontstaat een sterk en verweven wortelnetwerk.
